Gynaecomastia
- Common, often unilateral retroareolar swelling in MALES
- May occur soon after puberty or alternatively in older males
- Usually idiopathic but associations with some drugs (e.g. spironolactone, cimetidine & cannabis) and liver disease
- Clinical diagnosis usually straightforward
- FNA appearances often similar to the range seen in fibroadenomas - may be worrying
- Excised if clinically suspicious or causing discomfort/embarassment to patient
Male breast - gynaecomastia. Note blind-ending ducts, absence of lobules and periductal stromal oedema
'Mouse over' - for closer view - note mild epithelial hyperplasia in ducts
